Denise Cassady (68) of Oldham County, was called home peacefully after her valiant fight with cancer.
Denise was preceded in passing by her father and mother James “Henry” and Mabel Cassady. She is survived by her sister, Cathy C. Oehman (David); her daughters, Amanda Weimer (Michael), Kimberly Kiesewetter (Jason); son, John (Heather) and 8 grandchildren; David, William, Ella, Hayden, Natalie, Issac, Olive and Hope.
To say that she has left an immeasurable hole in the hearts of many would be an understatement. The way her eyes lit up and her whole face smiled when she spoke about the things she loved most: kids, grandkids, fishing, painting, crafting with her sister, gardening and virtually anything outside, will be remembered in our hearts forever. Strong, capable and loving is the way she will be described by anyone who was lucky enough to know her. Even during her battle with cancer she never stopped caring or fighting for the ones she loved. She was a force to be reckoned with, an incredible woman, daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and friend who will be deeply missed..
Denise proudly served Oldham County Schools for the last 34 years, first as a bus driver and finishing as a Plant Operator at South Oldham High School. When she wasn't working you'd find her with her family, spending time somewhere outside, or traveling to her beloved beach at Jekyll Island.
Funeral service will be Thursday, 2pm, Stoess Funeral Home, Crestwood with burial to follow in Floydsburg Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 11am until time of service.
In lieu of flowers the family is asking donations be made to preserve one of her favorite places the Jekyll Island Foundation in her name at jekyllislandfoundation.org
